A deposit serves as a reservation for a puppy and serves as an indication of your commitment as a serious buyer. Additionally, it secures your position in the selection process, such as being the third, fifth, or first to choose, depending on the gender of the puppy.
Please note that each gender has its own assigned picking number. The first buyer to place a deposit will have the first opportunity to choose a puppy, and the subsequent order of deposits determines the selection order for other buyers.
It is important to emphasize that deposits are non-refundable unless Golden Meadows of Utah finds the prospective home unsuitable during the comprehensive screening process. This screening process is not limited to an initial interview; it continues throughout the entire process until the puppy is handed over to the new owner. The Deposit policy is in place to protect against last-minute decisions from customers who may opt for a different breed, leaving us with the challenge of rehoming an older puppy at a potential loss. Deposits are applied to the overall cost of the chosen puppy
The selection process typically commences when the puppies are 5-6 weeks old, following a third-party Canine Psychology test. It is essential to note that puppies showing exceptional promise as high task Service Dog candidates receive preferential placement. Generally, each litter may have 1-3 high task service dog prospects, and these prospects take precedence over the regular puppy deposit placement order.
Once an application for a high task Service Dog is approved, all buyers/forever homes will be informed. For those who may not be satisfied with their picking number, we offer the option to be placed first in line on the waitlist for the next litter.
To facilitate the selection process, we arrange 24-48 hours after our forever homes receive the psychology report. We offer one-hour Zoom appointments and also provide in-person picking options. In cases where our forever homes encounter difficulties in making a choice, we can assist in making the selection based on their preferences.
